Who would guess the cast of the newly released “Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen” would have so much to say about video games?

After Shia LaBeouf decided to lay the smack down on the Nintendo Wii earlier this week, his costar Megan Fox, Hollywood’s latest It girl, tell’s family gaming blogWhat They Play how much she loves the console:

What are your thoughts on the Wii getting kids active?

Megan Fox: I’m totally a fan of the Wii, I’m just not good at it. I actually have a Wii Fit and it’s actually a really hard workout. It’s pretty interesting. I think it’s amazing you can combine exercise and gaming. There really are games like Raving Rabbids and there are these little missions that you have to do where you run. You’re running with your arms but I swear to God I was so out of breath after every time I completed a mission. It really gets your cardio workout and it’s a video game, which sounds crazy. But I think that’s amazing. I hope we keep heading in that direction.

Also in the interview, Ms. Fox talks about the Super Nintendo being her first console and Aladdin being her first game, a title both JJ and I still talk fondly about. Those damn magic carpet levels were so hard…

While I whole-heartedly agree that the Wii is not the console of choice for “core” gamers, to outright dismiss someone for owning one as The Beef did in his Nintendo bashing interview is just plain ignorant. Video game racism, I tell you! At least Megan Fox is bright enough to realize it.

Just imagine: You’re a kid playing Super Mario Bros. 3 back in 1990 and you’ve made it all the way to World 7, that god-forsaken Pipe World. Piranha Plants are nipping at your feet. There’s hammers being chucked at your head. Chomp Chains are trying to bite you in half. Madness at every turn. BUT! Instead of toughing it out like a real 4 year-old gamer (or using a whistle, duh), you turn the game on “auto-pilot” and let the Nintendo play itself.

Besides the rediciulously long James Cameron speech and the amount of time focused on casual gamer junk, two things really bummed me out about Ubisoft’s E3 ‘09 press conference: there was no mention of the rumored Beyond Good and Evil 2 and there was no footage of No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. Well, Ubisoft solved half of the problem by releasing a full trailer (check it out below, it’s amazing), and now they’ve released a short interview with the most original game maker out there: Goichi Suda, otherwise know as Suda 51.

Check it out here! Extended E3 trailer after the jump.

In hopes to remove the “$250 board game” stigma that has supposedly stricken the Wii amongst core gamers, Sega is glad to announce that their new FPS, The Conduit, has officially gone gold and will indeed be hitting store shelves on June 23rd, 2009. This means that in 11 days, I’ll be turning on my Wii for the first time since October! Let’s just hope that it’s as good as the Nintendo fanboys are saying it’s going to be. I remain slightly less optimistic, but as a Nintendo and a Sega fan I desperately want to be proven wrong.

The Conduit is a sci-fi FPS developed by High Voltage (Go, Diego, Go!: Safari Rescue) and published by Sega (Sonic Spinball) exclusively for the Wii. The game’s story focuses on an extraterrestrial invasion of Washington, DC and features competitive multiplayer enhanced by WiiSpeak. Here’s a look at the trailer:

The game uses the new Quantum3 engine, specifically created by High Voltage Studios for the Wii in hopes to emulate the graphical experience in PS3 and Xbox 360 games. It is currently available on Amazon for preorder.

Many people, myself included, want this game to succeed. Even though Nintendo made it clear that core gamers aren’t as important as casual players, we want to see more titles aimed at us. We want a reason to be proud Wii owners again instead of suckers who bought that mildly expensive, shiny, white brick. What do you think? Is this enough incentive for you to dust off your Wii? Let us know in the comments!

juone3

Seemingly set to follow the tradition of lackluster licensed games, Populous DS
developer Xseed games will drop Ju-on: The Grudge on North America and Europe this October (July 30th in Japan). This “haunted house simulator” for the Wii has two players running around with flash lights trying to spook each other. While some out there have reported that some of the scares are quite effective, this trailer doesn’t do it much justice:

The object of the game is to walk around a house and pick up things while getting scared by ghosts. You are equipped with a flashlight which fades while time passes requiring you to find batteries along the way. If the flashlight completely fades, the spirits will kill you. The controls are incredibly simple: move to WiiMote to move your flashlight and hold B to move in the direction that it’s pointing while using the A button to pick up stuff. The multiplayer mode allows a friend to orchestrate the scares. I’m going to go out on a limb here and just say that this game is going to be horrible. Xseed plans to release the game at a discounted price of “$20 to $30″, though I’m kind of wondering why the game isn’t just released as WiiWare.

While you’re counting down the days until you can get your Grudge, check out this little flash game that’s actually pretty nifty.

To me, watching the E3 conferences on G4TV this year was like a football fan watching the Super Bowl (or like me watching the Super Bowl, another thing that people are surprised to see me get into, mainly because I’m a indie rocker/nerd). The Microsoft pre-show was more than thrilling, bringing us Project Natal, Crackdown 2, Modern Warfare 2, and Splinter Cell: Conviction (just to name a few). Ubisoft’s developer conference was a borefest. Assassin’s Creed 2 looked fantastic, but I was really hoping to see Beyond Good and Evil 2. I couldn’t wait to see what Nintendo was going to bring the next morning.

Wednesday morning I woke up bright and early, made some coffee and turned on the TV to see that Sarah Palin looking lady talking about another “Super Mario Bros.” rehash. Not excited. More casual gamer-oriented drivel follows. More Reggie Fils-Aime. More boredom. Finally, some “core” gamer stuff. Mild excitement. Excitement passes. Tears begin to flow. Sleep comes. Heavy drinking. Sleeeep.

I wake up with one thing on my mind: What the hell is the Wii Vitality Sensor?

Here’s a video of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata speaking about this new device: (more…)
