Just a couple weeks after the re-release of one of the most treasured titles in video game history, Final Fantasy VII, an ESRB page caught by One Last Continue states that the title that chronologically followed FF7, Final Fantasy: Tactics, will come be the next game in the franchise to be ported to the Playstation Network.

Just imagine: You’re a kid playing Super Mario Bros. 3 back in 1990 and you’ve made it all the way to World 7, that god-forsaken Pipe World. Piranha Plants are nipping at your feet. There’s hammers being chucked at your head. Chomp Chains are trying to bite you in half. Madness at every turn. BUT! Instead of toughing it out like a real 4 year-old gamer (or using a whistle, duh), you turn the game on “auto-pilot” and let the Nintendo play itself.

1vs100

It’s been 11 days since the launch of the “1 vs 100″ beta and I must say, I really enjoy it. After the forth or fifth show it did begin to feel a bit stale, but I think any trivia game would feel that way when you’re playing it for two hours everyday. If Microsoft really pushes this Primetime Channel and actually figures out a way to add variety to their interactive programs, they might be on their way to the primetime revolution they speak about.

Just imagine: instead of your family getting together every night to watch some horrific reality show about people with 20 children or some guy with a bus full of whores, you all play a nice, fun game of trivia. Though if your family is anything like mine (or most American families), we’d taunt, curse, and scream at each other until someone punches someone in the face. Then someone always gets stabbed and rushed to the emergency room where we kiss and make up until we come home and cry and drink ourselves to sleep. The vicious cycle never ends…

But let’s be positive just for once! :-)

What do you think about the beta and more importantly, what do you think about The Primetime Channel? Does Microsoft have the power to change how the American family finds entertainment at night? Or are you nervous that they might be taking away your only escape from the harsh realities of the real world? DISCUSS!

Looks like another rumor we reported yesterday has come true… sort of.

For one day only, Amazon is offering the 80 GB at a discounted price of $350, which is $50 off the normal retail price. Not bad at all, I say!

Yesterday we spoke a little bit about the rumored $100 price that’s said to happen sometime in August and I really believe that it’s time that Sony joins the ranks of the lower priced (though much better performing) next-gen consoles. Although at this time, after hearing CEO Andrew House say that their $250 PSP Go is perfectly priced, I’m starting to have my doubts. In the past year, we’ve seen Sony lose hold on two of their biggest selling exclusives: The Medal Gear series and Final Fantasy. I’m well aware that these series have shown up on other consoles, but seriously:

Final Fantasy XIII is coming out on the Xbox.
Metal Gear: Rising is coming out on the Xbox.

To me, that’s insane. Sony MUST drop their prices. Are you going to pay $250 for a PSP Go? Why!? For $80 less, you can buy a PSP-3000 with even more features! If you’re a current PSP-3000 owner, are you going to upgrade? WHY!? You’re paying $250 to throw all of your UMDs away! Sony has made PERFECTLY CLEAR that they will not be abandoning the UMD format, so your flip-out, super sleek handheld will actually be missing out on new products! Unbelieveable!

Sony, you’ve wowed us at E3 with your spectacular titles and you’ve given years and years of cutting edge gameplay and technologies as well as develop some of my favorite games of all time. I think it’s time that you start giving back to your community of loyal followers and die-hard, enthusiastic fans. I can’t wait to see the flame wars on these comments.

Ah… the ever-elusive Playstation 3 price cut. A fleeting dream for poor folks (such as myself) or a soon to be realized reality?

The new rumor around the internets says that Sony’s wundermachine, The PS Triple, will drop from $399 to $299 in August. The price drop, set to coincide with the new Madden release as well as back-to-school shopping madness should definitely see a sales increase for this generations lowest performing console. I know I’d be happy about it!

Sadly, this won’t change things for the over-priced (IMO), $250 PSP Go. I don’t see that handheld pulling in DSi numbers.

At least ChadDaddy got the billz. (NSFW!)

Word on the street says that we might be seeing “Map Pack 2″ release as soon as tomorrow. It’s certainly a possibility considering it’s been announced for “early June”. It’s early June so put it out tomorrow, Treyarch!

Judging from the quality of Map Pack 1, I think that this new release is going to be stellar and I simply can’t wait for more Nazi Zombies :-D

If this rumor turns out being true, this weekend will see gameESC.com’s very first in-game interviews! We’ll be playing all day on Saturday and Sunday and we’ll be asking you guys what you think about the new maps! We’ll publish your thoughts and your Gamertag so you can tell our readers and the whole world-wide-web how you feel! That’s just one way that gameESC will bring true interactivity to our readers and gaming journalism as a whole. Stay tuned tuned for a date and time!
