Although it might not feel like it just yet (in 78 degrees in New York City), Summer is here and it’s gonna get hot. Tell your avatar to take off that tuxedo and get into these cool summer clothes. Major Nelson gives up the scoop:

Male
Rashguard
White Vest
Swim Shorts
Surfer Shorts

Female
Flower Vest
Surfer Hot Pants
Surfer Shorts
Surfer Skirt
Surfer Dress

I didn’t know that a “wife-beater” is really called a “white vest”!

If you’re someone who spends their time playing flash games on the internet, you probably wouldn’t mind heading over to The AddictingGames Showdown and voting your favorites. The winners will be announced this Saturday on Nickelodeon at 8:00 pm ET. The categories include the following:

I love when they have video games on television, either casual or “core” titles, so even though I’m 23 years old, I’ll probably be watching Nickelodeon this Saturday.

Followers of Major Nelson’s Twitter were treated to a pretty strange site this morning: Twitter, Facebook, Last.FM, and Sky branded Xbox Box 360 consoles.

There’s no word on whether or not these are going to be released to consumers as limited edition consoles or merely skins, but seeing as Twitter is quickly becoming my favorite thing on the internet I definitely wouldn’t mind scoring one of those cute little light-blue consoles. Aww….

Hey, as long as I can virtually blow people to bloody matter with a shotgun over Xbox Live, what does it matter if my 360 is adorable? What do you think? Do you plan on trading your red Resident Evil 5 console for a red Last.FM one any time soon? Let me know in the comments.

project natal

Whoa. This is getting crazy.

First: 1up.com says that Microsoft will release a new, upgraded Xbox 360 for 2010.

Second: Team Xbox reports that this is untrue and says that they know the truth of the situation and promises to release their inside information in the coming weeks.

THIRD! TG Daily report that at the Executives Club in Chicago, which they attended, Steve Ballmer announces the new console saying the new device will come equipped with technology that is “really, really, close” to being realized (Project Natal).

This comes three days after Team Xbox releases this on their Twitter account:

“…in addition to built-in Natal tech, a key feature of the next Xbox would be full HD stereoscopic 3D visuals similar to 3D movie theatres.”

Holy s*** that’s awesome! We’ll keep you all posted!

bioblivion

2k Games and Bethesda Softworks have announced in a press release that they will be uniting what some may say are two of the best games to be released in this console generation, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Bioshock, in a retail bundle set to cost about $40. Both games have received numerous awards and huge amounts of praise from critics and gamers alike.

I would say that this deal is just about as good and as Valve’s 5-games-in one-mega-value-pack, The Orange Box, although you can grab that now for about $20. So just think, for $60 you can own 7 of the greatest games ever!

The bundle will be in stores on July 7th, 2009.

Ev’ryone wishes for silver and gold
How do you measure its worth?
Just by the pleasure it gives here on earth

Yukon Cornelius has informed me that for a limited time, of course, the friendly folks over at Microsoft are allowing silver members (peasants) to upgrade to a gold membership (the good life) for a whole month, for only one of your parent’s dollars. If you’re a silver member, jump on this offer because this is what you’re missing out on:

Online multiplayer matches
Early and exclusive titles at the marketplace
TrueSkill matchmaking
Xbox Live Parties (greatest feature ever)
Gamer feedback
NETFLIX MOVIES!
Pretty much everything

PS3 users tend to taunt Live members for paying $50 bucks a year for the premium service, but most gamers with both consoles will tell you that the Xbox Live experience is indeed, “Very premium, yes. Like my dance moves and Sammy Davis Junior Junior.”

Rockstar Games is sponsoring New York’s “oldest and most venerated” bicycle race – The Skyscraper Harlem Cycling Classic. The event will take place on Father’s Day Sunday, June 21st, with registration starting at 11 AM. According to this page on the Rockstar’s website, make sure to look out for company representatives handing out t-shirts and stickers.

The race begins at noon and spans the scenic Marcus Garvey Park in historic Harlem. To spice things up in a “Rockstar” kind of way, cyclists will be equipped with SMGs and Molotov cocktails.

FINALLY! Someone is actually stepping up and making some sense!

If you don’t recall, on our blog last week I decided to address the ludicrous petition against Valve, stating that the consistently amazing video game developer was ripping gamers off by making a sequel to one of the greatest games of last year, Left 4 Dead. Read all about it here. Besides us, I haven’t heard anyone publicly defend Valve so when I saw that Adam Sessler posted an entire rant about it on his “Sessler’s Soapbox” podcase, I was thrilled. Thanks for speaking out for one of video games most exciting developers, Adam!

As I write this, our web host, Ipower, is suffering a major outage so I apologize for the lack of news. On the bright side, Ghostbusters comes out tomorrow and Dan Aykroyd just called to remind me! Well, it’s a previously-recorded message but it’s still cool. If you reserved the the game at GameStop, I suppose you should be expecting a call as well.

Here’s what the message said:

“Greetings, fellow paranormal enthusiast. This is Dan Aykroyd speaking through the miracle of digital 16 bit voice recording to remind you that your copy of Ghostbusters will be at your locale GameStop by tomorrow! Don’t forget to bring in your used games because you will receive an extra 30% credit for any game you trade torward Ghostbusters. Thank you, and see you on the other side…”

Listen to the message here!

How cool is that!? Expect my review to hit sometime on Wednesday! Grab Ghostbusters for all major consoles at Amazon below!
