Gears of War 2: Dark Corners or Why I’m So Angry With Epic

Joystiq posted a hands-on review of a new Gears of War 2 map, “Nowhere”, part of the soon-to-be-released “Dark Corners” expansion, although it’s less of a review and more of a description. After reading the article and watching the video, I feel much more secure in my decision to trade the game for COD4 last night on Swaptree (really sweet website, by the way). I’m tired of sinking money in that franchise and I know tons of gamers who would agree.
My biggest reason: Title Updates.
Besides the addition of the experience-based rank system, every single TU has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Epic, why do you listen to these whiners who cry and complain about two-piecing, chainsaws, smoke grenades, falling down stairs, melee damage, etc. ect. ect! With the exception of the smoke explosions, was your coveted GOW 1 any different? Could you not blow somebody’s face off with a shotgun from a mile away as well run around the map doing nothing but chainsawing people? What is the definition of a good match to you people? Running around in circles with an aimed shotgun? Or is it that you just don’t like losing? Either way, I’m done with being called the “N” word every time your bitch-ass gets pwned and I’m more than done with having to relearn a game every time I’ve play. Ever since these “requested” changes were made, I’ve seen more and more people leave this game behind and go back to good ol’ black and gray world of Gears 1.
If I’m going to put out my hard earned cash for Gears of War 3, Epic better make it damn worth it.
Here is a link to the Gears of War Forums with a growing list of TU4 “tweaks” and “fixes”. One rumor is Epic plans to remove power weapons from Wingman and replace them with ammo crates. Wow. How exciting. I can’t wait until they only allow you to move in a circle and aim your shotgun.
